We often confused with words that are pronounce the same but with different meaning. I will like to share some with you the commonly confused words :
1. practice - a noun meaning doing an activity
practise - a verb meaning to train regularly
Example : There is a basketball practice in the school field every Wednesday evening.
The boy practise playing the drums every afternoon.
2. pipe - a tube to carry water
tap - a device to control water ( a faucet )
Example : The workers are laying new pipes along the road.
The tap is leaking. I have to call the plumber.
3. chop - to cut
stamp - a small tool that you hold in your hand and use for printing the date or name on a document
Example : My father chopped down the mango tree with an axe.
The entry form needs to be stamped and signed by the headmaster.
4. wish - to say that you hope somebody will be happy or lucky
greet - to say hello to somebody or to welcome them
Example : I wished Bryant a " Happy Birthday " and gave him a present.
He greeted all the guests warmly as they arrived.
5. principal - head teacher
principle - a law or standard
Example : The principal of that primary school is a very experienced teacher.
I refuse to lie about it. It is against my principles.
